EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS


Rave Smart 911 is a communication tool that will allow the residence of Winston County as well as county employees to receive information via text messages, voice mail, and email notifications. Rave Smart 911 is used to inform the Commissioners, Mayors, Law Enforcement, Fire Departments, and Citizens of alerts to events such as road closures, adverse weather conditions, and issues affecting the railway lines running through our county.

NOAA Weather Radio


National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) weather radios that sound an alert to notify people nearby that there are severe weather conditions. These radios are inexpensive and widely available to the public. Having one in your home that is set to your specific area (models marked "SAME" - Specific Alert Message Encoding allow this feature) is the best way to ensure that you and your household will be alerted to any severe weather. Make sure to put in batteries as a backup in the event the power goes out, and change your batteries each time day light savings time changes.
